Hi my name is Ben Hedrington. I've spent the last twelve years working with Fortune 50 companies to create, redefine and lead in their e-commerce, digital, mobile and omni-channel strategies.
I'm proud of creating new innovation, industry recognized product leadership, growing business opportunities that few saw from nascent to mission critical levels and building and leading strong teams that work differently and get results.
My roots are in technology, and I think a strong understanding of technology is critical for today's digital leaders, but my entrepreneurial drive and customer focused approach move me into a different creative and strategic place than most. Away from technology for technology sake and with a critical eye on ideas circling in the ever-present tech echo chamber.
I get my energy and do my best work at the intersection of the customer experience, real business value and supporting both of them by what I know is possible with technology.
Today I work at SapientNitro doing end-to-end digital, mobile and omni-channel strategy with Fortune 50 clients across many industries.
I've spent much of my career prior leading in e-commerce, mobile, digital and omni-channel strategy for Best Buy. I created, owned and ran Best Buy's mobile touch points from strategy to execution including interesting crossover of digital in-store, created an industry first social platform, Best Buy's Twelpforce, that garnered a lot of attention and spent many years leading teams to support the growth and scaling of BestBuy.com, the 10th largest ecommerce property in North America as of 2013 when I departed.
This blog is a place where I poke, prod and learn by experimenting and doing. I aim to expose trends and find interesting angles where digital can benefit real people that might be missed or aren't well explained.
Here is how I kicked off this blog way back in 2008...
I intend use this space to write about things that interest me in the web industry in order sharpen my point of view and build my personal context so I can make better decisions for myself and expose more people to the near constant changes afoot in this space with an understanding of what they could mean.
